Well, we had a hard freeze last night so my impatients, annual Red Salvias, Nasturtums and Mexican Sunflowers are all done in for the year. Yesterday they were still going stong blooming away. I guess I can't complain.

Even tho I had frost on my windshield, the wandering jew I have in a hanging pot outside is just fine. Guess I just got lucky. But tonight the forecast is 40, and 60 tomorrow. I'll let it out a few more days! Jan in Long Island NY

Yes, and sadly, the remaining 2 elusive Goldfish that refused to be captured have apparently gone to the great aquarium in the sky. (I sound flip, but I really do feel bad about it :-(

Interesting,

I still have a few plants outside that are not at all hardy (particularly a large thunbergia, a jasmine, some nasturtiums and a pineapple sage, and they're all doing fine on a south-facing balcony. I think the city has a lot of micro-climates, depending on where you grow!

My outdoor tenders have started to succumb; the basil, which I was still harvesting earlier this month, looks all in. Having procrastinated until the last possible moment, last Tuesday afternoon (hours before the frost Rita mentioned) I pulled indoors the tender plants I want to overwinter. They're settled in under lights, some moved to larger pots, and will have to sink or swim.

Interesting that my Red Clover my Purple Vetch are still going stong. In fact, they seem to like the cooler weather. Of course, real winter weather will do them in but I guess afew hours of freezing overnight just did in the more tender annuals.
