| If you're ever out in New Jersey, Rare Find is having a sale, but good-sized shrubs are always going to be a serious chunk of change. At this point in the season, you're taking your chances on the rest of the fall/early winter will be mild (right now it seems like we won't have a hard freeze until next year, but you never know!). The rule of thumb is a plant has to be two zones more hardy in a container, so a zone 5 plant is your best bet. A camelia in a container is a very dicey thing in NYC (I know, I've killed a couple), so only buy one if you can bring it in during the winter someplace cool and bright. Finally, you might try the greenmarkets, particularly Grand Army Plaza or Union Square on Saturdays, some of the growers there may be trying to shed excess inventory before winter. Hope this helps!
