Searching for nurseries who sell spring bloomers in the fall

Can anyone tell me if they know of any wholesale/retail nursuries within 70 miles of nyc that have a good stock of perrenials for a fall installation?

Specifically Im haveing trouble finding heuchera, tiarella, astilbe, and other spring bloomers and ornamental grasses. The idea is to install this fall so that the plants establish better root systems by spring of next season.

Any help or advice you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, I can't find well-known spring bloomers locally. I once saw pink bleeding hearts at Atlantic Nursery in Freeport. I have never been to Dees in Oceanside, but I've heard good things about them. I never venture "out east". I'm afraid of high prices in the trendy Hamptons. I do most of my buying from catalogs.

Gowanus Nursery in Brooklyn has an excellent selection of perennials. They're very knowledgeable and can probably get what they don't carry. You could also try Chelsea Garden Center, which has a good stock, or the botanical gardens.

Bluestone Perennials is a good mail-order source.
