Manhattan nurseries, ZZ and chinese evergreens

Hi!

I live in Manhattan and am looking for a nursery where I can find ZZ and chinese evergreen indoor plants. I read that these are low maintenance/low light plants. I have a south facing window. After a hiatus, I just started trying indoor plants again. Previously, they all died in my apartment.

Cheers,

Is ZZ Zamioculcas? I've been seeing them all over Chinatown. It's become very popular over the last few years.

Hi eveningg.

This is a very late response and I'm not even sure if you'll see this. But where in Chinatown have you seen these?
Thanks,

Charlie

Not sure if ZZ is still "in", but I saw it in a couple of places last year. There's a shop on Bayard between Mott & Mulberry and another on Lafayette (maybe Centre?) below Grand. I've also seen it in the shop in Chelsea Market, but I'm sure it's much pricier there.

Another Chinatown nursery is on the corner of E Broadway and Catherine St. right off the Bowery.

ZZ's and Chinese evergreens (agloemena species) are pretty bulletproof, as are sanseverias, so long as you water once in a while but don't leave them soggy. Good luck!
