Bugs eating my Mint Leaves!

| My mint plants that we are growing outside are providing a really nice meal for some local bugs. What bugs, I don't really know.. However, any good recommendations for keeping the critters away? They are growing in pots outdoors, next to our tomato garden. I don't want those bugs getting greedy and eating my veggies next lol..
any suggestions welcome! |

Perhaps Japanese beatles?Look on your mint plants around mid day if you can spot a bug of metalic green of color that is japanese beatle.I kill about 100 to 300 a day and there is more and more. They love rose bushes and abot 200 other types of plants. They like mint if there is nothing else.Black spot is not infecting only roses it infects many other plants and trees.None of the above is eazy to deal with.Japanese beatles are easy to catch .You can just lift them up from the plant and throw them in the bocket of water I just squeeze the life of them between my 2 fingers. You can find more info on the web. |

i had the same problem... holes in the leaves and then noticed black specks, like specks of dirt kind of... looked closely and discovered the culprit!! a green caterpillar... kind of like an inchworm, but with a spike on its body, kiind of like the hornedworms that eat tomatoes... i picked it off and flug it away and the mint looks fine now... no more munching!! but look closely at leaves and stems... those guys are good at blending in... good luck! |
