What to plant now, and where to get it?

| I have a north-facing fire escape that does not get a full day of sun. What can I plant now that will do all right without full sun? I am most interested in planting vegetables, fruit, and herbs.
Also, where are good places to shop near North Park Slope??
Thanks! |

Does it get any sun at all, or is it exact north and always shaded? Take care, marg |

| Hi thanks for replying. It gets full sun until about noon due to gaps in the buildings around it. I got tomato, basil and italian parsley plants two weeks ago and they're actually doing really well. |

| Swiss chard, kale, thyme, lettuce, and other greens should be OK in your location. You can plant spinach in the Fall to over-winter, but it must be well mulched. How did your tomatoes work out? Good luck! |
