Lilac as Hedge

| Hi -- Does anyone use lilac bushes as a hedge? We don't want to put up a fence and privets don't suit my hubby. I thought that lilacs might be an idea... any thoughts? |

| There is one in my neighborhood that usually looks great. My concern would be powdery mildew. It can make them look pretty yucky by late summer. |
