Community Garden near Morningside Heights?

Posted by polymath (My Page) on

Hello,

I will be moving from the west coast to New York City to attend grad school at Columbia University this fall. I have both a community and backyard garden where I've grown veggies for the past couple years.

I'm hoping to find a plot at a community garden where I can grow food as soon as possible. I've tried looking into it but I haven't found many good leads; looks like most community gardens are smaller and ornamental which I also appreciate but it's not what I'm looking for. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Martin

RE: Community Garden near Morningside Heights?

Living not far from columbia university, I have passed community gardening plots at 139 street, in riverside state park. These are rectangular plots, probably about 4-5 by 9 feet marked off by a wooden boundary. Over this summer the plants and stalks there have grown really high.
I hope that helps!
