Astilbe (snowdrift)

Hi,

I bought an Astilbe (snowdrift) about a month ago. Planted it and then put it back into a larger pot when I noticed that someone was eating it. There is a woodchuck hole very near by so I blame them even though these plants are supposed to be deer and rabbit resistant.

My concern is, it hasn't turned white yet. There is good growth. It has recovered very well from minor damage from the woodchuck. I think the pot has regular soil in it but it might be some sort of potting soil mixture. I have it on a table that gets some sun; I hear these plants like partial or full shade.

Any idea when these things should turn white?

Thank you.

Lipwak

I'll answer my own question. I saw on the stake that came with the plant, that I missed before, that they should bloom in July and August.

I look forward to it.

Anyone else have anything to add?

Cheers,

Lipwak

They are late bloomers. Mine just started this week.
For whatever reason it never been vigorous grower for me and sometimes I'm thinking to replace it, but when almost every astilbe is done for the season and I see just brown plums everywhere it start blooming and I don't have a heart to get rid of it.
