Franks replacement - Nassau County?
| | |
Posted by nice_girl (My Page) on Sat, May 7, 05 at 11:34
| Hello all!
I am in Nassau County and am looking to find an inexpensive (cheap) nursery to replace Franks.
I am interested in buying basic perennials, hostas, daylilies, rhododendron, hydrangea.
Any suggestions?

| I like the Lowes in Garden City. I found a lot of great deals there last year when looking for annuals. Home Depot is okay too. Then there's Walmart. I'm not sure if they have what you mentioned that you are looking for though. Atlantic Nursery in Freeport features a perennial a week for sale as the summer progresses. Those are the cheapest that I know of around here. I love Abby's Parkside Nursery in Seaford on Merrick Road. It isn't huge but everyone knows what they are talking about. They aren't cheap either but there plants and annuals are beautiful. I get discouraged when I walk into Home Depot and everything looks like it hasn't been taken care of the way it should be. I also like Hicks and they seem to have some good sales as the summer progresses. Good luck, Didi |

| Thanks for the reply Didi! I am hoping to find a nursery with prices (or sale prices) comparable to Franks. (I've had no problems with Franks quality, since every plant I bought is thriving.) As for Home Depot and Lowes, their garden shops are big, but their prices are not discounted. nice_girl |

| DiDi. I buy most of my vegetable plants at Abby's, they seem to survive best. I live in Bellmore. Stella |
