I've already planted all my annuals on lots of containers and on the ground. Lots of impatiens. Today we get the terrible news that we're going to get frost tonight. What's the fastest, economical and best way to protect my plants from the frost tonight? Imposible to bring them in or to move them. Tooooooooooo many, many heavy pots and plants. Thanks.

Put a few tomato cages in some of the pots for support and throw a sheet or two over the plants. I have also used drop cloths and plastic shower curtain in a pinch. Remember to remove in the late morning especially if using plastic so plants in pots will not burn.

*blink* Frost tonight? I check 2 weather services daily and saw nothing about a frost warning? Zone 7, I'm guessing LI; did I miss something?

No problems in NYC, but up in the Hudson Valley there was frost — killed a few plants (pineapple sage, tomatoes, marigolds) and caused leaf loss on a couple more, including one that was supposed to be frost-tolerant. I'm guessing that it got down to the upper twenties and stayed there. Should have checked the forecast and emptied the linen closet onto the garden!
