fruit/veg in Manhattan

Hi, has anybody grown fruiting plants/vegetables in manhattan? Are there adequate bugs to pollinate the plants to set fruit? I had been planning on planting tomatoes and watermelon, but now I'm wondering if there will be any pollinators.

Lots of people in Manhattan have rooftop, terrace and even backyard gardens.
Story on NYC urban gardens

I'm working on a story for New York Magazine about urban gardens and gardening culture in New York City. I'm looking for unusual gardens---corn growing in Manhattan, very large gardens with unusual plants and/or animals like peacocks and/or chickens, exotic plant farms, that sort of thing. If anyone has information on this, could you please email me at lisamcollins@gmail.com. Thank you!

I hope you find your tomatoes doing well. I have planted them in 5 gallon buckets and they are doing quite well. We get a lot of butterflies and other pollenators coming through.

Fruits and vegetables grow all over Manhattan -- backyards and rooftops. Think tomatoes, chard, fruit, etc.
