anyone growing Vigna caracolla?

Hi, all,

Last year, bought 3 plants of Vigna caracolla. Finally got a bloom in October, but the scent was so lovely that I was determined to keep them. Managed to winter them over (dormant) in my basement. About a month ago they started to bud out, so I began to water them and moved them under grow lights. They're really taking off, and I'm wondering if I can move them outside yet, or better to wait another few weeks? They didn't seem to mind the chill much in the autumn... Does anyone have experience with this plant?

Thanks!
Best,
Jen

Well they were led into the cooler temps in the fall... here they will be going from the warmth into the cold in a day.. I'd leave mine inside till it was warmer... if you can keep the spider mites at bay for awhile longer .. I had one that bloomed wonderfully... and gave it to a friend after a few years... great growing plant for me... Gordon

Thanks, Gordon! I'll give them a few more weeks indoors. No spider mites so far - fingers crossed :)

Jen

Logees sells, or used to sell this plant, and has a hotline that you can call for further info, but I think Gordon's right -- this one really isn't happy with night temps much below 60.

Hmmm...at the rate these are going, I'll have to set up some taller lamps ;)
