| HI everyone. So far there are 8 definites for Saturday. I thought if you wanted to , you could give us a little info on yourself so we have an idea of who we will be meeting on Saturday.
So I'll go first.
I bought my first house 2 1/2 yrs ago and that's when I got hooked on gardening. I have a tiny house with a big yard and love gardening. It is my passion. My most favorite plant is roses. Now I'm recently hooked on bearded iris and daffodils. I also went through a daylily phase and a peony phase and a hydrangea phase. I love fragrant flowers and am also growing plumeria right now. I am newly married (3 wks ago) and have an 11 yr old son who is the love of my life! I work full-time for a Union. I have a 2nd son who is my dog Lucky - my 2 yr old black labrador. And a crazy cat, who is about 3 yrs old. We also have a russian tortoise, Spikes and a bearded dragon, Iggy. I also love to eat and love coffee too. Dark chocolate is my favorite.
Talk to you all soon

Hi All!! Yes I will be there Saturday too! I am totally new to gardening. We've had our home for 7 years and I've done a little planting here and there, but really nothing I can brag about. Luckily everything has survived, I'm just not real sure how to prune or shape, so I come to GW to learn. DH, bless his soul has promised me a back lawn since we moved in (new construction they just sod the front and seed the back) and it looks like this year we have the most amazing assortment of weeds. (Well, he didn't promise it was going to be grass!!) But at least he mows! We don't have any pets, but there is a mole who has taken up residence. DH and I one summer played "Caddyshack" with the hose and spade, but to no avail, this sucker is here to stay! He's a tough little feller who's even tried to come up through our driveway! I think his friends have moved in too since they just decided to tear down the beautiful, tranquill woods that surrounded our house and put up a gof course. This has brought a new adventure to our yard, since now we have flying golfballs to contend with!! (They decided it would be fun if they put a dogleg right around our house. And just to be sure people would try to hit their balls over our house... they put a sandtrap on the straightaway!!) So perhaps I've always loved gardening, but now there is a serious need for some strategic planting!! Anyway, I'm glad to meet all of you to exchange ideas, tips etc... See you all then!!

Looking forward to meeting you all on Sat. Live in Huntington Station have been there 29 years and my gardens are forever changing. Have to keep the veggie garden as it is half my back yard and if ever turn into lawn would put the other half to shame after 20 plus years of composting. Flower beds are mix of annuals, perennials and weeds. Biggest problem is running out of room to plant things.

Hello everyone! Nice picts, Maureen and congrats on your recent nuptials. Looking forward to meeting you all on Saturday. We been in our house 5 yrs (has it been that long! Feels like yesterday!) We are continuing to upgrade/renovate the home as we can. So the yard has been in the planning stage for some time & the back seat. I don’t really have a garden yet (other than in my head & on paper), but the vegetable garden is always getting bigger. (I was told that I must be trying to feed an army). Truth be it, that if you have a tiller, the only limitation is what part to dig up next! We tilled out a 65’ bed last fall, now I just need to bite the bullet and pick some plants/trees for this area and get on with it. This is our first house and there is still so much to do/fix. We are DIY and dangerous at that- no project is too big! (Just kidding). Husband and I both work full time. We were married three years ago- had the most wonderful reception in our back yard. Made buying the house all worth while. Looking forward to meeting you all. -Candace

Hi Everyone, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. Gardeners are the best :) My name is Barbara and I live in Huntington. I have a tiny house and a big yard that I love, but seems overwhelming at times. I'm a mom and have my own business so I'm pretty busy (like most of us!!), but love to be out working in the yard. I've always been interested in gardening, but only seriously started a couple of years ago. My style is cottage gardening. Last year I started two perennial beds in my back yard, so I'm really excited to see how they fill in this season. Maureeen, I just sent you an email! Thanks for organizing this. Barbara

I'm Jannie on Gardenweb but I'm Jan the rest of the time, except when I'm Mommy. I've lived in Kings Park for 25 years. I love being outside in the spring. I quit my job last July, so I finally have time for some serious garden care. I have small pockets of gardens in various places in my front and back yard, including a big circular herb garden jam-packed with weeds and a row of rose bushes I am trying to grow along my back fence. Our house is very small, and our property is shaped like a piece of pie, narrow in front and wide in the back. I love coffee, too, can't wait to meet you all.

Hello Everyone, My name is Sabine (except here on gardenweb, where I am usually Bee) and we live in Smithtown for 5 and a half years now. It is our first house with a garden and I got hooked to gardening right away. In the beginning I had no idea what I was doing but it's getting better every year. But I am far from where I would like my garden to be. I am looking forward to meeting all you guys. Maureen, thank you so much for organizing all this. Sabine (Bee)

...aww this is gonna be saweeet :) Terri here in West Babylon, we moved from Bayshore a year ago and I had to leave a lovely garden behind. I swear Im never moving again - it was alot of pain - LOL :) Ive been busy ripping out some overgrown yews (as tall as the house) from the front - there is absolutely NOTHING there now. The back yard is also bare and I cant wait to do stuff there. I am excited about my 'clean slate'. I need help - LOL :) I have a disease, I seem to have some kinda magnet inside me that attract all plants when I go to the groceries or a nursery - I swear I just pop in for food and plants end up in the cart .. my little one will say .. Mom we came to get chocolate milk... remember :) and at the nursery I go for one thing and every thing leap at me and end up in the cart. my excuse.. I dont do the 'regular' things for myself... clothes, smoke, mani/pedi etc ... ;) ....cant wait ta meet ya 'all :)

Marci, I'm sorry I haven't been back since now, I didn't see your comment to me about my site! Thanks for the compliments. It's a labor of love, as are the pictures in the photo gallery. I haven't had time for all my hobbies lately so I still have months and months of photos I haven't put up there yet. But all that will change in about a month, then I'll have to get back to "normal" life again! Thanks and will see you all again in late June. By the way Marci, thanks for the forsythia!! I know just the spot for it.

Have we decided on a time and place to meet? I would suggest we meet somewhere near and take one or 2 cars into the park as the parking fee is $6.00 per vehicle. Not being from the area I do not know what is there. But there has to be some type of shopping center near the park. How many of us are going?
RE: Please post an Introduction before we meet on Saturday

Sounds like a good idea Marci, I'm not familiar with the area at all though.... I'm definitely going. -Millie |
