getting spring fever

Seems that this forum does not get a lot of action. Too bad...
Anyway, on to my question. I just dug up a large plot of concrete from my new backyard, and have quite a few bareroot shrubs/trees and potted perennials that I am dying to plant. Any suggestions as to when I can do this without danger of killing them in this erratic weather? Thanks

Your only problem would be a sudden frost, and then only if it's really hard, or with freezing rain, that could kill new leaves. The remedy is just covering them over with an old blanket, bubble wrap, tarp, etc., overnight.

Have fun with the planting, and post a pic when you're done!

I would say definitely plant the shrubs/trees. The perennials should be ok, as long as we don't get any really cold nights and like Jim said above you could just protect them in that situation. I think your pretty safe now.

Happy planting and good luck in your new home! Are you on LI or NYC?
