In Need of a Gardening Consultation

We are in the midst of planning and carrying out a terrace planting. We are doing most of the work ourselves but need to hire a 'gardening consultant' to help with some details that we have no experience in. Due to exhorbitant prices we are trying to stay away from the landscape architect firms or 'soup to nuts' gardening companies and prefer a small group or even an individual that can help us with planning, sourcing, implementation and maintenance that we can pay by the hour or job. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you are anywhere near Long Island, a trip to Atlantic Nursery in Freeport (souith shore Nassaau County) would be great. They have professionals working there who will "design" you a garden. They gave a website with directions, hours, etc.

There's a listing of garden coaches by state here:

Most charge a reasonable hourly fee and do advice and hands-on training rather than full-on design and installation.

Hope this helps!
