Roses to give away in Brooklyn

Posted by rosesinny NY (My Page) on

I was pruning last weekend and I realized that I have too many roses crowded into a fairly small place. I also started a few cuttings last year - duplicates in several cases just to be sure that something rooted. So now I have to thin out. I dug out a full-grown Lady of the Mist and started thinking that maybe I might find homes for these if anyone is around or planning to visit. So if anyone wants them:

One full-grown Dixieland Linda/Aloha (seems more like the latter).

One 1-yr band that is certainly Dixieland Linda (shipped as a replacement)

Several lavendar minis.

One full-grown Blue Girl

One full-grown Braveheart.

One full-grown General Schnablikine

One full-grown Phyllis Bide

One full grown Gruss an Achen

Full grown means at least 5 years old. They are just starting to bud out so it won't be too bad to transplant.

The main problem is that I just don't want to bother spraying and the first few are pretty roses but they need spraying. The others are just too crowded - e.g. Phyllis is growing into Crepuscule. So if anyone is interested over the next few weeks, drop a line or post.

What a lovely offer. I would be happy to take a few plants off your hands. How can I follow up with you?

hello

I am interested in filling up the garden in the front yard of my building in Harlem. I could come by if you still have any extras. Thanks,

Don't know if you are the people who contacted me but if you are not, send me an e-mail. I still have a few things and the weather is good for planting.

With luck eventually it will also be good for growing!

I also have a rose bush to give away in Brooklyn! It's probably rosa rugosa - a flat pink flower that makes nice hips. It is very hardy and tolerant of poor conditions. Good for a sunny front yard or community garden. It has been in my front yard for years - don't know who planted it there. It doesn't match my new planting theme.

I am usually on the rose forum but this is the first time this year I have visited the Metro forum.

Hello Greg, I see you posted your rose offer here as well as the rose forum.

I was lucky enough to receive a gorgeous Braveheart Rose Shrub from Greg, which is now growing in my garden here in northern Nassau County.
