Immediate call to action Brooklyn Garden Center Threatened

OH NO!!!! The best garden center in Brooklyn is being shut down. Help save Liberty Sunset Garden Center. They are being evicted from their space and will be forced out by March 31st. If any of you have ever been there you know what an absolute gem this place is and how tragic it will be to loose it. They are also very active in the community with educational programs and donations. Let's band together to try and do SOMETHING. You can help by signing the attached petition and going to the center now and purchase plants that are currently 50% off. I am in no way associated with the garden center other than being a devoted customer and admirer of their lovely space they have created on the water in Red Hook. Their phone is turned off and website closed however you can find them at 204-207 Van Dyke St. Red Hook Brooklyn. You can find the owners there during typical business hours. C'mon people let's spread the word and get some coverage before its too late!!!!

Here is a copy of the petition and info I received for some reason I can not add the petition link.

Liberty Green NY Inc. has to find a new home soon. Due to some financial problems we can no longer remain at Pier 41 and are expected to leave by March 31st, 2011. We've requested an extension till May 31st, 2011 from our landlord and now we're asking you, our supporters and friends, to help us by responding to the petition I've pasted at the bottom of the message. Any short e-mail or comment will go a long way.
We do not want to lose all our plants and have them die so we're trying to relocate as quickly as possible. Your feedback and support would help immensely!!!!
On a lighter note, we are having a huge sale to reduce our stock. Most of our merchandise is 50% off!!!!!!!!!!! Stop by for this amazing deal and look around.
We appreciate and look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you guys soon.
Thank you so much,
The Liberty Green family

PUBLIC PETITION
TO PIER 41 ASSOCIATES
PLEASE DO NOT LET LIBERTY GREEN NY INC. CLOSE BEFORE IT CAN RELOCATE!!!
Due to devastating economic instability, Liberty Green NY Inc. can no longer financially afford to remain at its present location and must vacate on March 31, 2011 or before. It hopes to find a new location so that its remarkable collection of plants, trees and flowers can survive along with its educational and environmental programs.
We, the undersigned friends of Liberty Green NY Inc. and residents of Red Hook and surrounding communities, ask that Liberty Green NY INC. be granted an extension till May 31, 2011 to find an available and suitable new location where it can continue to serve Red Hook and the Brooklyn community as a whole.
For the past four years, Liberty Green NY Inc., located on Pier 41, has generously donated plants and services to schools, community gardens, and inner-city churches in Red Hook and surrounding communities, while hosting educational programming and participating in numerous educational and ecological events.
New York State recently approved Liberty Greens’ application to become a not-for-profit organization to expand its horticultural, environmental and community work in “greening our city” by offering classes, hosting educational field trips for NYC schools, and in general enlightening the public.
Sandor Gubis, the creative force behind Liberty Green NY Inc., has been a fixture of Red Hook for over 23 years. He is a vital educational asset to Red Hook and for NYC due to his horticultural knowledge and his active support for community gardens, school gardens, urban horticulture, and urban forestry. Granting him a May 31, 2011 deadline for relocation will ensure that his business and public service survive.
Scientist Chris Atkinson has said, “Trees in the urban environment are a precious resource and add considerably to the quality of life.” The same can be said about Liberty Sunset Gardens! Thank You!

I've just got an update. They have a working link to sign the petition now. Help spread the word to your buddies. If you know anyone who can get this covered in any other relevant forums that would be helpful too. Thanks mll.franco!! See petition link below.

Here is a link that might be useful: petition

I Googled LIBERTY GREEN NY INC, what is it? A housing development? That's all I am finding. I haven't lived in NYC in over 50 years and have been checking various areas of the city.Wow,a lot has changed.
Yeah, we live in South Central Pennsylvania.

Ah,reGoogled Liberty Sunset Garden Center. That's sad. Maybe the owner was not there mentally to appreciate his financial problems? Overwhelmed by everything?
