I work with a modern, lightweight hand mower and hand tools only. Power tools not only cause noise, they pollute and raise dust. Gardening should not feel like a military invasion! * * * I prefer organic fertilizers, don't use chemical weed killers, and only use pesticides if absolutely necessary. Even then, I seek the most harmless method of pest control.
